Green Chicken



Preparation Time: 20 mins

Cooking Time: 30 mins


Chicken – 8-10 pieces

Desiccated Coconut – 5 tbsp

2 Medium Onions choppes finely

1 Cup Coriander leaves

1/2 Cup Mint leaves

Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 tsp each

Cinnamon Stick – 1 inch

Cardamom – 3-4

Black Pepper Corns – 6-8

Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp

Whole Red Chillies – 3

Green Chillies – 2-3

Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp

Salt to taste

Vegetable Oil – 2tbp

Curry Leaves – 6-8


1) Wash the chicken and make slits in them so that the masala can penetrate in it easily

2) Ground to smooth paste – desiccated coconut, coriander leaves, cumin seeds, black pepper corns, green chillies, mint leaves, salt , half the chopped onion and turmeric. Set the paste aside

3) Take oil in a non stick kadai and add cinnamon, cardamon , curry leaves, whole red chillies, salt and half the onions kept aside. Saute till onion is light golden. Add ginger garlic paste and sauté for another 5 minutes

4) Add the ground paste and sauté for about 5 minutes till oil oozes out. Add one cup of warm water and chicken and let it cook on slow fire till chicken is done


Serve the green chicken with hot parathas or steamed rice
